Alumni News

Welcome to the Alumni Pages for LTWR!

You may have graduated, but you never really leave. . . . Check out what your colleagues are doing these days, and how you can get involved with department events and campus activities.  We also have opportunities for you to help a whole new generation of LTWR students, by contributing to our scholarship funds or creating internships. Now more than ever, we need you to get involved!

 Alumni News and Updates:

Barbara Schiffler (grad 2003) has moved to Georgia to be near her family and has been hired to teach at Georgia Military College in Augusta. This satellite campus is not really military, but the only community college in the area. One of her duties is to start up a writing center on campus.  We are very excited for her!

Michael Hunter (undergrad 2003) started his MA program in Comparative Literature at Pennsylvania State University this fall with a Teaching Assistantship.  Despite the cold weather and snow, he is doing well.

Crystal Brownell (undergrad 2003), and Dalyn Luedtke are in their first year of MA programs at SDSU and U of Arizona (respectively) this year.  Send them your strongest coffee for those late nights studying...

Karen Sutter Doheney (grad 2003) is teaching at Cal State Monterey Bay--way to go!

Amberly Crosby (undergrad 2003) was accepted with funding and began her MA program at UCLA this fall. We hear she spends most of her time in the library, but do offer your congrats if you see her around!

Bryony Kiker (grad 2003) had a beautiful baby boy named Seth this summer.  Congratulations!

Tracy Fuller-Linkowski (undergrad 2003) and Gigi Barrows (undergrad 2003) started Law School at Cal Western this fall and report that they are "getting worked" but love it!  You may also remember that Gigi gave the Spring Commencement speech that had us all howling....

David Staley (undergrad 2003) heads back to Australia to become a citizen of the "land down under," where he will teach English.

Kris Hawley (undergrad 2002) lives in Hollywood, is engaged to be married, and has a puppy!  She works for a bookstore and plans on applying to grad school in 2004. She also gets advance tickets to openings and film premiers (so lucky!).

Jared Young (undergrad 2002) is a Senior Engineering Writer at BAE Systems in San Diego. He loves his job and the opportunity to spend his days writing!

Jeanne Zimmerman (undergrad 2002) has gotten married and started her MA program with funding at UC Riverside since graduating.  She still coaches and is involved with ice hockey, too.

Megan Logreco (undergrad 2002) is teaching 9th grade English for the Escondido district.  She loves her students and her school; to stay busy, she is also applying for grad programs in Literature for 2004.

Jeanine Jameson (grad 1999) is now a freelance writer and has been teaching writing and critical thinking at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.  She recently took a position at University of Phoenix teaching Communications, and got married. Congratulations!

Micaela Hanley (undergrad 1998) reports that since graduation she has lived in the Caribbean and on the east coast.  She's back living and working in Vista now.  Micaela recently had two short stories published and graduated with her MFA in Writing in 2003.
