CAPI Call for Consultants!

Thanks to the dedication of LTWR faculty, CSUSM students, and high school faculty, amid major budget cuts, the Collaborative Academic Preparation Initiative Grant (CAPI) continues.  Many of the resources previously offered to CAPI high schools have been cut, BUT the CAPI online writing lab, more affectionately called the OWL, continues.  That means we need you!

Are you interested in responding to high school students’ writing?  Do you want to engage in digital conversations with them about their writing?  If you are interested in teaching in grades 9-12, the CAPI OWL is a wonderful way to get to know high school students as writers.  You are encouraged to contact Prof. Dawn Formo, the Co-Director of the CAPI project at dformo@csusm.edu  She would love to hear from you!  All CAPI consultants will enroll for a minimum of 1 LTWR 495 or 695 unit.  This unit covers the following:

• 2 hours per week as an OWL consultant
• Monthly CAPI workshops
• At least one conference with Prof. Formo or Prof. Cindy Hanson

Beyond that one unit, you may work for pay ($10/hr for new consultants, $11/hr for returning consultants), for additional units, or for a combination of the two.  Federal Work Study students are also welcome.  Dr. Formo looks forward to hearing from you!
