Pizza and Politics
is a series of
events designed to enhance civic
engagement within the university
community. P&P events offer a
"safe" space in which to have civil
discussion about political events or
campus issues. This academic year's
series of Pizza and Politics will
primarily be focused on the issues of
the 2008 Presidential Election. In our
first event, Dec. 4, the university community
was introduced to
the series. Students, faculty, and staff
identified the issues
that they saw as the
most important to them for this upcoming
election. This spring, we will hold a
series of discussions on newspaper
articles focusing on a particular issue
or a candidate debate. (The source
of those newspaper article will likely
be the New York Times as it is a
sponsor of the national ADP and
available online free to students.) For
some of these events, we will have a
faculty member serve as "expert" to take
your questions about that event's issue. If you would
like to be involved in this project in
another way, please contact ADP by
emailing the director, Prof. Pamela
Stricker,
stricker@csusm.edu.
