Student Involvement with CAPI

  • Eight (8) classes (approx. 280 students) used the OWL this year to receive feedback from CSUSM students on a wide range of writing projects, terms papers, and college entrance essays;
  • Students worked one-on-one with CAPI writing consultants in their classrooms;
  • Many students have made use of the Diagnostic Writing Service (DWS); and
  • Several students participated in the Summer 2001 digital book club pilot project (Thanks for participating, Vista!).

Faculty Involvement with CAPI

  • For the past four semesters, junior and senior research papers have been normed and graded collaboratively with Vista and CSUSM faculty and lecturers, allowing students a preview of college writing expectations;
  • Faculty have actively participated in the CAPI Conferences;
  • Several faculty have completed the CAPI courses for English teachers; and
  • Faculty invited Dawn Formo to lead a workshop on responding effectively and efficiently to student writing.

Future Plans

  • Ms. Barnes has generously agreed to allow Kimberly Robinson Neary and Dawn Formo to interview a small group of randomly selected students who have used the OWL. We look forward to that work in the fall!
