: : Requirement Information
Course must be an approved college-level intermediate course. Approved means it meets the following criteria:

  • It must be comprehensive course covering all aspects of a language. For example, it cannot be a writing or conversation only course.

  • The course used to fulfill the requirement, i.e. a 201-level course or above, must be passed with a minimum grade of "C" or taken "Credit/No Credit".

  • Courses can be "challenged" for credit and used to fulfill the requirement. NOTE: If you plan to choose this option, please check with your advisors to make sure a grade of "Credit" will not interfere with your other requirements.

  • CSUSM courses listed as 201 or equivalent fulfill the requirement.

If the course is taught at another college or university, please check with an advisor or the Foreign Language Proficiency Assessor to verify its acceptability.

If you are interested in study abroad opportunities, please contact the CSUSM Office of Global Affairs.
